It was a winning weekend for Rutgers. After the inauguration of President William F. Tate IV in Newark on Friday, the Scarlet community came together to cheer the football team to a 35-20 victory over Big Ten rival Maryland on Saturday at SHI Stadium.
It marked the annual Military Appreciation game, featuring complimentary tickets for service members and veterans, with a military flyover punctuating the playing of the National Anthem before kickoff. Included in the Marching Scarlet Knights performance was the formation “Tate 22” to recognize the State University of New Jersey’s 22nd president.
