I didn’t grow up watching NASCAR, but there is so much comfort and familiarity in seeing these old stock cars that’s hard to explain.
Many know that I thrive on nostalgia, even if it’s for something I never actually experienced. I find myself frequently clicking on those 30 minute 1980s television ad complications on YouTube. And while I don’t consciously remember any TV from before 1997, there’s always a feeling of security in them. The cars being plastered in brands of that same era aside and not reducing these machines to their sponsors, to me they carry that same feeling of warmth and nostalgia that comes from watching those dark, nicotine stained adverts.
