Catskill Mountains- Verticals If anyone was wondering, the abandoned stone building is the ruins of a late-1800’s resort that burned down three times, coincidentally called the Overlook 👀 It is still open for the public to explore, and several of its staircases, fireplaces, and doorway arches are still intact. Personally, it was giving me more “Green Knight” than “Shining” vibes. It was kinda magical and I’m obsessed with this place. Half a mile further up is the top of the Overlook Mountain, where visitors can climb a fire tower. It was too windy and foggy for me to get any pics at the top, but it was super eerie at its base. The mountain pic is on the Giant Ledge trail, and it is *not* the top of the mountain (that was another couple of miles up the trail). The spot I’m sitting on had an elevation of about 2500 feet, and absolutely no sign of civilization anywhere in sight.
