Hispanic Heritage Month Feature: Jorge Sanchez At age 8, Jorge was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (a type of bone cancer) and endured a year of chemotherapy. For Jorge's safety, doctors had to amputate his leg above the knee to help reduce the risk of his cancer returning. By chance, Jorge learned about the opportunity to play Wheelchair Basketball and he never looked back. Jorge won gold for @teamusa at the Tokyo 2020 @paralympics and continues to push adaptive sports with @CAFoundation and @angelcitysports for kids, especially in the Hispanic American communities. “I am extremely proud of my Latino heritage and where I come from. As a Mexican American, I feel as if I have the best of both worlds.” @athlete_jorge_sanchez |#hispanicheritagemonth #paralympics #adaptivesports #wheelchairbasketball
