#ScenicSunday, we’re touring the United States Capitol and The White House with Rutgers Scarlet Service, President Jonathan Holloway’s transformative program that implements civic engagement as a component of a Rutgers education. Selected undergraduates from all campuses serve paid summer internships at government offices and public service-orientated nonprofits while earning credits via innovative curriculums.
Rutgers Scarlet Service has grown from 100 students working in and around New Jersey to include Washington, D.C., the epicenter of American government, politics, and public leadership. From Garden State to our nation's capital, 150 students are enrolled in 2023, gaining hands-on experience addressing national issues, including public health, infrastructure, education, and the environment.
