Did you know that @rusirhenry wasn’t always our mascot? From the early 1920s until 1955, the Chanticleer served as the Rutgers mascot. The Chanticleer, a student comedy publication, was even published by Rutgers in the 1920s. However, Rutgers students opted for a change after the intended image of “a proud fighting bird” was seen as a “chicken.” @rusirhenry, we wouldn’t have it any other way, buddy ❤️
