Rutgers hosted a celebration on Tuesday evening in the President’s Tent on Bishop Place in New Brunswick to recognize Scarlet Service, a paid internship program that establishes civic engagement as a critical component of higher education. This past summer, 150 undergraduate students from all campuses worked at public service-oriented nonprofit organizations and direct-service government offices in the New Jersey region and Washington, D.C.
"Rutgers Scarlet Service is everything that is good about higher education and the impact it can have," President Holloway said. "Rutgers Scarlet Service is a building block to moving our society closer to achieving the highest ideals of our founding documents."
