The World Golf Hall of Fame joins the international golf community in mourning the passing of Sir Michael Bonallack, one of the most extraordinary leaders in the sport's history. Sir Michael had few peers in his understanding and appreciation of golf's fundamental character, its essential values, and its timeless traditions. He was one of the finest amateur players Great Britain ever produced, winning both the Amateur Championship and the English Amateur five times and representing Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup on nine occasions. He channeled this remarkable career into exemplary leadership, both as secretary and later captain of the R&A, but moreover as one of the leading voices and advocates for golf globally. His expertise, his impeccable character and his leadership insights will be sorely missed.
