For this week’s story of #HowWeMetAtRU, we have Sasha & Eduard ✨ "Sasha’s junior year at Rutgers in 2012, she studied abroad in Valencia, Spain, where she met Eduard. While he wasn’t a Rutgers student at the time—in fact, he was *from* Spain—Sasha’s RU study abroad experience is what brought them together. We lived on the same floor in the same dorm, so it was only a matter of time before we connected. In fact, Eduard had become friends with the previous year’s Rutgers study abroad students and had already visited them at Rutgers—frat parties, Brower dining hall and all. Sasha and Eduard maintained a long-distance relationship for their senior year of college, and in the fall of 2013, Eduard was enrolled as a PhD student at Rutgers. He has since graduated with his Masters and Ph.D. at Rutgers, defending his computer science thesis from our bedroom with covid the first week of lockdown in March 2020.
