Then & now, the 1902 Memorial Gateway 🗓️
Erected in 1904 by the Class of 1902, this is one of four existing entrances to Old Queens, a National Historic Landmark.
Current students are cautioned against walking under this gate due to a superstition that it hinders timely graduation. Why?
Before the move of Commencement to SHI Stadium, graduates walked through Old Queens, passing the Class of 1902 Memorial Gateway on Hamilton Street, before Commencement at Voorhees Mall, marked by the ringing of the Old Queens Bell.
