59 years ago, on #BloodySunday, John Lewis and civil rights heroes marched in Selma for their right to vote and to shape the destiny of our democracy. We remain inspired by how, facing unthinkable bigotry and brutality, they courageously persisted across Edmund Pettus Bridge. While extreme Republicans seek to roll back the clock through voter suppression, Democrats will never relent in our fight to safeguard our sacred right to vote. This includes enacting the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, critical steps for liberty and justice for all.

On today’s 58th anniversary of #BloodySunday, we honor the civil rights and voting rights trailblazers like John Lewis who marched in Selma. And we are called to pick up their mantle—to ensure the right to vote and the right to have that vote counted.
